How Fingerprint Recognition Technology Works In A Biometric Door Handle
Fingerprint recognition is a cutting-edge biometrics technology widely used for identification and access control. It has revolutionized the way we secure our homes, offices, and other properties by phasing out the need for physical keys. When number lock door handle integrated with a door handle or lock, this technology promises enhanced safety and convenience. Let’s delve into the details of how it operates:
Fingerprint Scanning:
The user places their finger on the scanner embedded in the door handle. The scanner captures the unique details of the fingerprint using optical, capacitive, ultrasonic, or thermal sensors.
Fingerprint Data Conversion:
The scanner proceeds to convert the captured fingerprint image into digital data, creating what is known as a ‘fingerprint template.’ This conversion is carried out via software algorithms that analyze minutiae points or unique fingerprint characteristics such as loops, whorls, and ridges.
Fingerprint Template Storage:
The digital template of the smart door handle set which is essentially a numerical code, is stored in the memory of the door lock system for future comparisons. The initial setup process usually requires the user to scan their fingerprint multiple times to allow the system to capture a robust image and create a comprehensive template.
Fingerprint Verification:
Each time a user attempts to unlock the door, the system captures a fresh scan of their fingerprint. This new data is instantly converted into a template and is compared with the existing templates stored in the lock system’s memory.
Access Decision:
If the newly scanned fingerprint template matches any of the stored templates, the system recognizes the user as authorized. As a result, the keyless front door handle is disengaged, allowing the individual access. Conversely, if the scanned fingerprint does not match any stored templates, the system denies access, and the door remains locked.
Fingerprint recognition technology in keyless entry deadbolt with handle promotes tree-fold security enhancement—unique access credentials (fingerprint), quick identification, and non-transferrable access rights. This technology is continually improving, with advancements focusing on increasing the accuracy of fingerprint scanning and recognition mechanisms to further ramp up security levels and the user experience.
